The term ‘line’ is usually associated with a copper wire coming into your office. This line normally comes with the functionality to allow you to make voice calls and each one comes with its own “telephone number”. With a VoIP service the meaning is different.
Because you are using your Broadband Internet access to “transport” your calls, the term line (also known as a channel, extension or subscription) is now used to describe the ability to “handle” more than one concurrent conversation (at the same time). It also includes features like the ability to:
Every VIRION service comes with a Direct Indial Number (called a DID). You can choose whether to make these numbers known to your customers (have them call you directly, bypassing Reception), or have every call go through reception before they get to you. You can configure your VoIP Telephone System with even more advanced features over and above the VoIP Subscription you receive from VIRION, but a subscription includes the following features for no extra charge:
Using a VoIP service you can ‘port’ your existing Telstra or Optus number across to us and pay VoIP rates.
VIRION uses the highest business grade vodecs and whitelist international carriers to ensure that along with cheap call rates, your business has the highest voice quality.
Some VIRION customers use the major carriers like Optus and Telstra for their phone systems (because they are committed to the high cost of their telephone system) but have devices like the PAP2 attached so that they make all their outbound calls through VIRION VoIP. Other customers have a full solution provided by a VIRION VoIP Partner (including Broadband Internet access) so that all the calls they make and receive go through our telecommunications grade VoIP platform and using a direct pipe into our platform.
Our call rates are typically half of Telstra’s normal retail call rates which represents a huge saving.

1300 numbers were made famous because you could take them with you anywhere and they created a perception of your organisation being larger and more sophisticated. If you moved your business address your telephone number would come with you and you could promote yourself in different states without promoting a different number. This was particularly important when the cost of national calls was billed by the minute.
They are now called special numbers and their billing is unique in that the caller now pays a slightly higher price at between 25-30c depending on their carrier, but the owner of the number is charged for the time a caller spends on the line.
If you are still a fan of 1300 numbers or have an existing number that you want to port across our system is configured to make it easy by displaying inbound numbers on our monthly digital call record reports.
The cost of calls to your 1300 number depends upon the calling plan of the people who call you. The prices below are the costs you incur for having a 1300 number.
Monthly Subscription Fee: $19
Call rate: 9c per minute
New number setup: $49
Porting your 1300 number across to VIRION: $99
These prices are exclusive of GST.
1800 numbers enable customers to call you for free. Every aspect of the call is free for them, but you pay for the privelege. 1800 numbers “point” to an existing telephone service to be answered, just like 1300 numbers and our marketing numbers.
